Which shows are returning or premiering for the first time on Amazon Prime and Disney+.

Earlier this week, I listed the coming arrivals of Netflix, Hulu, and HBOMax. To see those shows, click here for Part 1.

As I was talking about in part 1, September is going to be an amazing month for streaming with hundreds of new movies and shows as well as some popular series that are returning for another season. I wrote about how excited I was for Fargo season 4 which premieres later in the month on Hulu after a postponed release from April. The show I’m most looking forward to is season 2 of Prime’s The Boys, a graphic and hilarious look at how the world would look and work if superheroes actually existed. Season 1 ended on a huge cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what happens next! The Boys premieres on Prime on September 4th.

In part 2, I’ve compiled the September releases of another couple popular streaming services: Amazon Prime and Disney+.

I’m going to start with Disney+ because there is an important note before we get started…  After much anticipation, this movie was supposed to hit theaters back in March but like so many other films and events, it didn't work out that way. But the controversial film finally has a premiere date. On September 4th, Mulan will be streaming on Disney+ but it will NOT be included in your existing $5.99/month subscription. Instead, if you’ve been waiting to see this movie, you’ll have to fork out another $29.99. For some, this is a huge extra cost considering an entire year of Disney+ is only 84 dollars. For others, though, after paying for two adult and a couple more kid’s tickets… and snacks… and sodas they’ll actually be saving money. And of course, it’s unrealistic to think Disney would just give us the movie outright after shelling out 200 million dollars to produce it! Of course, Mulan will stream for free eventually but if you’re not willing to wait, the good thing is once you buy it, you’ll be able to watch it over and over again (as long as your Disney+ subscription is paid and active).

So as you can see, on these two services alone, there are literally hundreds of movies and shows that will be available in September. And that doesn’t even include the behemoths like Netflix and HBOMax and the smaller yet substantial services like Showtime, AMC, FX and more. Maybe I’ll do a part 3 for network and cable tv shows if the interest is there.

On a final note regarding season 2 of The Boys on Prime. Usually Prime shows drop all episodes on the premiere date for binge-watching and I’m pretty disappointed that isn’t the case this time around. Instead, episodes one through three will be available on the 4th and then one episode will drop each Friday for the next month until the season finale on October 9th. It looks like with how popular the show has become in the past 14 months, Amazon is going to try to milk subscribers to pay for September and October if they want to watch the entire season week to week. Of course, you could just wait until October 9th and binge the whole thing...

What are you guys looking most forward to? Is there anyone out there who loves The Boys and Fargo as much as me? I’d love to chat with some fellow fans!

Lastly, just as is the case with pretty much anyone's blog, it's time for some shameless self-promotion. I run a small site called 4kmoviesale where we specialize in selling new and used 4K movies. We try to keep our prices lower than big box stores and even lower than that gigantic online store you usually buy everything from. Check it out! Plus, just for making it through this entire thing, here's a little gift: use promo code blog10 at checkout and you'll get an additional 10% discount on your entire order!
